If you’re planning a winter getaway to Wisp Resort in Deep Creek Lake, Maryland, there’s nothing more convenient than staying in a ski-in/ski-out vacation rental. Imagine stepping right outside your door, clicking into your skis, and hitting the slopes without ever dealing with parking or shuttle lines. Even better? You can pop back to your rental for lunch — no crowded lodge, no long lines, and no paying top dollar for cafeteria food.
At Wisp Resort, ski-in/ski-out homes are located in just two areas:
North Camp – offers direct access to beginner (green), intermediate (blue), and one advanced (black) run, making it a great fit for mixed-level groups.
East Ridge (Main Street area) – sits right on the black diamond slopes. While the chairlifts here do connect to other parts of the mountain with easier terrain, depending on where your house is located, you may still need to ski part (or most) of a black diamond run just to reach the lift.
Both areas have fantastic rentals, but which one you choose depends a lot on your group’s skiing ability and comfort level.

⚠️ Tips for Booking Ski-In/Ski-Out Homes at Wisp Resort
Don’t book too early in the season. If you’re planning a trip in December or early January, keep in mind that North Camp and East Ridge are usually the last parts of the mountain to open unless there’s significant natural snow. By mid-to-late-January, ski-in/ski-out access is much more reliable.
East Ridge is best for confident skiers. While there is lift access to the rest of the mountain, many homes on East Ridge require you to ski partway down a black diamond run just to reach the chairlift. If that feels intimidating, North Camp is the safer and more versatile choice.
Being slope-side saves money and stress. One of the biggest perks of ski-in/ski-out is the ability to head home for lunch or breaks. You can skip the crowded lodges, avoid long cafeteria lines, and save money by eating in — plus it’s way more comfortable to recharge in your own space.

The North Camp is the best option for families or groups with a mix of skiing levels since you’ll find greens, blues, and one black run accessible right from your door. This area features modern cabins and large mountain homes that make slope access a breeze.

⛷ East Ridge Ski-In/Ski-Out Vacation Rentals at Wisp Resort (Main Street Area)
The East Ridge, also called the Main Street area, backs right up to Wisp’s black diamond slopes. It’s perfect for advanced skiers who want to maximize time on challenging runs.
While lifts from this area do connect to easier terrain, keep in mind that some homes require skiing part or most of the way down a black diamond just to reach the lift. If your group includes beginners, this may not be the best fit. There are some vacation rentals on this list that are at the top of the East Ridge slopes with direct chair lift access to intermediate and beginner slopes, so be sure to read the reviews carefully if that is important for your stay.
Important note about the “Down Under” slope: Some rentals on East Ridge are located along the connecting trail called Down Under. While this is a blue intermediate trail, it is important to note that it is pretty steep at the beginning and it empties directly into the bottom of Eye Opener, a steep black diamond run. Some listings describe Down Under as a “family-friendly blue,” but that’s misleading — you’ll still need to navigate black diamond terrain to connect with the lift. If you have any beginner skiers in your group, this will not be a good fit for them.
