Milos, Greece, is a true paradise for those who love both relaxing on a beach and adventure. Our favorite part of our Milos vacation was the boat tour to Kleftiko. One of the most beautiful places in Milos is Kleftiko, which is only reachable by boat. Kleftiko is stunning with its bright turquoise water, towering white rock formations and ancient pirate caves. A trip to Milos would be incomplete without a boat trip to this gorgeous part of the island. This is everything you need to know about the absolute must-do boat tour in Milos, Greece.

We kicked off our Milos vacation with this full day boat tour to Kleftiko, booked through Viator, on our first full day in Milos. It was the PERFECT way to start our trip.
I recommend scheduling your boat tour at the beginning of your stay. Milos is known for its Meltemi winds and tours may be canceled if the winds are too strong. Booking at the beginning of your trip gives you more flexibility to reschedule if needed.

The Boat & Crew
Sail & Motor Boat
Stop 1: Kalogries Beach
Our first stop on the tour was Kalogries Beach. Once the boat was anchored, Andy and Aldie handed us pool noodles to help us swim to shore. The water was crystal clear, and shallow enough that we only needed the noodles for a short distance before we could stand and walk along the beach.
The tour also included snorkel gear, but we brought our own masks.
Kalogries Beach was a great spot to cool off, snorkel and swim–but compared to the stunning places we visited later in the day, we realized this was just the warm up!
After 30 minutes exploring, we returned to the boat and set off on our next adventure!
Stop 2: Sikia Cave
The second stop on our boat tour was the stunning Sikia Cave, a true highlight of Milos. This remarkable cave is set against a backdrop of bright white rock formations, with crystal-clear turquoise waters at its entrance. The most striking feature of Sikia Cave is its partially collapsed ceiling, which has created a natural skylight that allows sunlight to pour in, casting a beautiful glow throughout the cave’s interior and reflecting off the water below.
At the cave, there were only four boats anchored, including ours. Once again, we were provided with pool noodles and snorkel gear before plunging into the turquoise water . The sea inside the cave was calm and peaceful, perfect for swimming and snorkeling.

Stop 3: Kleftiko Sea Caves
This tour definitely saved the best for last— the absolutely incredible Kleftiko! From the moment we arrived, we were completely blown away by the sheer beauty and awe-inspiring nature of the place. The dramatic white rock formations, crystal-clear turquoise waters, and hidden caves made Kleftiko feel like something straight out of a dream.
As we approached, we were immediately struck by the towering arch shaped rock formations. It was so breathtaking that it was hard to know where to focus. This was a pinch myself kind of moment, taking in the jagged cliffs, caves to explore, and the most vivid blue waters imaginable, I was overcome with gratefulness that I was here and experiencing this firsthand. We couldn’t stop snapping pictures and videos, trying to capture the sheer magic of it all. It felt surreal!
Snorkeling in Kleftiko
After cruising through the stunning rock formations on our sailboat, we anchored in Kleftiko to swim and snorkel. We snorkeled in a shallow cave lined with stacked rock formations.

What to Bring (And Not To Bring)
Liquid Sunscreen – Avoid bringing spray sunscreen on this boat tour. It’s frowned upon because it makes the deck slippery. If you do bring spray sunscreen, you’ll need to spray it into your hand first and then apply it, rather than spraying it directly onto your body.
GoPro – If you have a GoPro, definitely bring it! We captured some amazing footage snorkeling and exploring the sea caves. While the captain will take videos of your jumps and adventures, it’s still great to have your own camera to document the experience. If a GoPro is out of your budget, this more affordable knock-off has amazing reviews.
Waterproof Phone Lanyard – If you don’t have a GoPro, bring a floating waterproof phone lanyard! You can take pictures and videos in the sea caves with your phone. Keep in mind, there’s a lot of splashing on the Zodiac boat, so you’ll want to secure your phone with a waterproof lanyard to protect it.
Snorkel Gear – If you prefer using your own snorkel gear, feel free to bring it along. The tour provides snorkel equipment, but some may prefer their own for comfort and fit. We bought these from Amazon and they were great. We did see several people with the full face snorkel masks as well.
Hat and Towel – A hat for sun protection and a towel for drying off after a swim are always a good idea! I love these lightweight towels, they are easy for packing, and I use it as a blanket for the airplane, too.
Cash for Tips – Don’t forget to bring some cash to tip the crew. They work hard to make sure you have an amazing experience!
